Last night-
we decided to head to El Dorado for some 60's music and pool. Friends came over, admired our shiny wood floors and drank a lot of peach champagne first. It was a great time- we have fantastic friends. The only downside was we didn't decide to take an photos until we got back home and changed into pajamas. So here are some odd roommate photos featuring booty shorts and full-doll hair and make-up.

Regarding shopping schizophrenia and birthdays
A lot of girls will say that their shopping weakness is shoes or purses or maybe something completely different- like model trains. And while I do love shoes and purses and (to a lesser extent) scale models, my real shopping weakness is events. 98% of my purchases happen when I've got a fancy party or a trip or show coming up. I get an image in my head of how I want to look and then scour the internet and local vintage shops in an effort to force that mental image into outfit reality.
The process goes a little something like this....
Self: Oooh, I'm going to a work holiday party with The New Boy this month. Dang, what am I going to wear?
Frugal Self: Don't go buying a new dress- you have a million hanging in the closet. Wear one of those.
Self: Alright, I do love The Wedding Dress and I've only worn it twice....
Indulgent Self: But what about shoes? It's the holidays and nothing says the holidays like red shoes.
Frugal Self: We have red shoes.
Indulgent Self: They're falling apart.
Self: That's true, ok I'll buy some new shoes and I'll make sure they're fairly inexpensive.
Indulgent Self: And a giant statement bracelet...
Frugal Self: No way! Totally unnecessary.
Self: Hmmmm...
Indulgent Self: And new underwear!
Frugal Self: What are we, made of money or something???
Self: Ummm...
Indulgent Self: AND YOU HAVE TO GET A NEW PURSE!
Frugal Self: THIS IS WHY WE STILL LIVE WITH OUR MOTHER!! BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BUDGET YOUR MONEY!!
Self: Both of you just shut up! You're not even real- you're just Freudian manifestations of my own internal dialogue.
End scene.
Ok, so here's what I ended up buying.
Bangle set I picked up from Taneesi Jewelry on Etsy.
New Red Shoes from modcloth
And a whole bunch of pretty underthings from Dollhouse Bettie.

It's so humid today-
Haven't had a chance to post this week- I've been up to my false eyelashes in preoccupations.
Selling a large chunk of my vintage wardrobe on The Fedora Lounge. Mostly shoes that never get to hit the pavement and dresses my size 16 ass will never fit back into.
OK little side note here (in which I'm going to betray all womankind and *gasp* revel my measurements!)
I'm a 43-32-42. A modern 16, roughly. Those same measurements back in the 1950's were a size 20. I never understood why sizes were shrunk over the decades. Was it so as women got chubbier, we didn't have to suffer the shame? I mean, really....Does wearing a modern 6 rather then a vintage 10 actually fool you into thinking you weight less then you do? Sheesh.
I digress. The mass sale has a two fold benefit. I get more closet space for new clothes and a little extra scratch to fund a new home decor piece I'm commissioning on etsy.
And now for some pictorial illustrations of the aforementioned points-
Now, what on earth could this end up being? 9,000 brownie points if anyone can pick up on the lyrical reference.
Newness to fill up that closet space- Mary Green camiknicker. Finally. It's been back ordered on dollhouse bettie for months now. I finally just canceled and ordered straight from M.G.
Arrived in 4 days.
I promise my next few posts will not include photos of me in my underwear :)

The never ending quest
My most favorite local vintage shop, Frock You, provided me with a new piece to further my obsession with vintage loungewear.
A handmade rayon robe- navy blue with brown embroidery. (I know you can't see the colors but I just look so much better in sepia tone.) Adore.
