Go green- reuse your hairstyle!

I've never been much of a shake at hairstyling. If you had ever met me during high school, you'd know why.
Tomboying doesn't jive with hot rollers and hairspray all that often.
But I guess I'm trying to make up for that now. One thing I love about doing my hair for an evening out is being able to capitalize of it the next day. Usually, if I curl my hair friday night and don't mess with it too much, I get nice waves all saturday. Now, that's assuming I don't party too hard, dance too much or get any drinks flung in my hair. (It's happened)

So, say I start with this....

A perfectly respectable 30's curl set. A night at the bar and the morning later, now it's  perfectly respectful non-definate era waves :)

Little more brushing....

And now some shameless outfit photos...

Sit on it!

In the midst of drinking coffee and trying to get my day back on track, (I know it's 6pm but the first half of the day involved lots of mimosas) I've been poking around the Internet looking at housewares.
I've got big plans for my new apartment, big expensive plans.
This will be the first new place for me that I'll be able to decorate how I want.

Today's preoccupation: sofas.

.
Teal Velvet Sofa from Horchow. Adore

Found this on craigslist- in my town- not in my price range.
so far....

Ethan Allen Whitaker Sofa- how amazing would this look in coral velvet?

Why not just go full antique?

Reading, Eating and other Fun Friday Activities

Today has been a wonderfully lazy day.
I didn't have to be at work until 10am (a time unheard of for me) and consisted of making registration packets and creating docs. This is going to sound all kinds of sad but I really like doing paperwork. I think it's so much fun. Lame, I know.
Came home, had a little at home coffee shop time on the patio, finished half the crossword.
Fell asleep on the couch listening to Iron and Wine (this happens a lot to me) and woke up wanting to share some of the things that have come into my life recently.

One thing I love about working at the station is all the unsolicited books that come in.
I never turn down free books!

A poster from The Silent Comedy's last show. Signed by the boys and held aside for me by their dad, JZ.

The cloche hat I picked up for $11 at Flashbacks.

My poor-woman's dinner. Pasta with leftover sausage and tomato bisque soup for sauce.
And coffee. You know, cause it's 10:30 at night.

This is the start of a three day weekend for me and as lovely as the day has been, I do hate sitting home at night. Firstly, the thought of wasting the few nights I'm able to go out irks me. Also, it's all too easy to let myself get all gloomy and girly over certain situations concerning certain boys. But that's a post for another night (if at all)
I've decided tonight will be early so that I can wake up before 8am, go out and enjoy the morning.
At least, that what I'm gonna try to do....

It would seem that I'm not very good with people

I'm not sure why but lately, I'm just striking out left and right with folks.

Yesterday, traffic was especially bad on the way home from work so I stopped in Golden Hill to wait it out. The coffee shop was unusually vacant of any friends (which was fine by me. I had some serious crosswarding to do)
However, PN stopped by for a bit and we had a chat. A really very awkward and confusing chat. He just seemed so uncomfortable and like he couldn't wait to leave. He didn't sit down, rather hovered a few chairs away and avoided eye contact. We're not very familiar with each other but we've always been friendly and had enough to talk about in the past.
Maybe it was just an off day for him.
But sometimes I feel like people have nothing to say to me. Am I really that disengaging?

And then today, I found out that I hurt a friend with a situation I'd thought was over. Only the thing is, I've never really thought of them as a friend, just someone I'm familiar with through others.  I don't know how to feel about all this. I didn't mean any ill will towards them, honestly they didn't factor into my thinking at all.
I'm never happy when someone is hurt or offended by my actions. But I'm really having a hard time feeling bad for it.

Ka.
